The Challenge 

The North Gate LV Survey presented a significant logistical challenge centred on maintaining operational continuity in a high-traffic area. Our key task was to execute essential survey works directly impacting a primary access route. This necessitated meticulous coordination with the client and Manchester Airports Group (MAG) to plan and implement necessary road closures. The core difficulty lay in balancing the efficient progress of our survey with the critical need to manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic effectively, ensuring safety and minimising disruption to airport stakeholders throughout the project duration.

Our Approach

Our methodology was defined by proactive planning and a strict adherence to approved safety protocols. We developed and submitted a series of comprehensive traffic management plans for client and MAG review, which were meticulously crafted to mitigate impact. Upon receiving formal approval, our team executed this staged plan with precision, deploying strategically placed signage, barriers, and traffic control measures. This disciplined approach created a safe, segregated work zone, enabling our team to operate efficiently in and around live traffic while ensuring the continued safety of all airport users and personnel.

Results & Impact 

The success of this project was measured by both efficiency and excellence. Thanks to our effective planning and seamless collaboration with all stakeholders, the works were completed ahead of schedule, minimising disruption and delivering value ahead of timeline. Furthermore, all handover documentation and critical survey information were delivered to the client on time and to the highest standard. This successful outcome not only ensured immediate project closure but also provided the client with a trusted and accurate data set for all future infrastructure planning and maintenance at the North Gate, solidifying a foundation for long-term operational integrity.
