The Challenge
Surveying Instrument Landing System (ILS) equipment and their associated duct routes presents a unique set of challenges due to the critical need for absolute precision. The ILS signal must be entirely free of interference, requiring meticulous measurement and placement. Furthermore, this work must often be coordinated within the airport’s highly restricted and operational environment, navigating complex underground utilities and adhering to strict safety protocols—all while minimizing disruption to airfield operations. This careful, precise surveying is the essential first step in ensuring the safety and reliability of every landing.
